1xxx Pure aluminum sheet

1xxx pure aluminum sheet cut to size contains more than 99% aluminum. The minimum aluminum content of this series is determined according to the last two Arabic numerals, such as 1050, whose aluminum content is 99.5%. The production process is relatively simple and the price is relatively cheap.

The aluminum alloys grades (1050, 1060, 1100, 1145, 1200, 1230, 1350, etc.) all have excellent corrosion resistance, high thermal and electrical conductivity, low mechanical properties and excellent machinability. The strength can be moderately enhanced by work hardening. The main impurities are iron and silicon.

2xxx Al-Cu alloy

The 2xxx aluminum sheets are characterized by high hardness, high strength and good machinability, but poor corrosion resistance. Among them, copper has the highest content, about 3-5%. They belong to aircraft aluminum, of which the price is relatively high.

These aluminum alloy grades (2011, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2124, 2219, 2319,2024 etc.) require solution treatment for optimum performance. Under solution treatment conditions, the mechanical properties can reach and sometimes exceed those of mild steel. In some cases, mechanical properties can be further enhanced by precipitation heat treatment (aging). This heat treatment can increase the yield strength, but the elongation will be lost, and the effect on the tensile strength is not very large.

The 2xxx aluminum alloys do not have as good corrosion resistance as most other aluminum alloys, and under certain conditions they may still be subject to intergranular corrosion. They have good strength and high temperature resistance up to 150°C, making them ideal materials for manufacturing parts. 2024 aluminum alloy is the most versatile aluminum alloys in the aerospace industry.

3xxx Al-Mn alloy

The typical grades of 3 series aluminum alloys are 3003, 3004 and 3105. Its main alloying element is manganese. The content is between 1.0-1.5, which is a series with good anti-rust function. It is used for processing parts that require good formability, high corrosion resistance and good weldability.

5xxx Al-Mg alloy

Its typical alloy grades are 5052, 5083 and 5086. The main element is magnesium, and the magnesium content is between 3-5%. The main features are low density, high tensile strength, high elongation, and good fatigue strength, but it cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. Under the same area, the weight of aluminum-magnesium alloy is lower than other series. 5mm aluminum sheet cut to size is a common thickness.

6xxx Al-Mg-Si aluminum sheet

Its main alloy grades are 6061, 6063 and 6082. This series mainly contains magnesium and silicon. The 6 series is a heat treatment strengthenable alloy, which has good formability, weldability, machinability, and medium strength. It can still maintain good operability after annealing.

7xxx Al-Zn alloy

7075 aluminum sheet is its representative, which mainly contains zinc. It also belongs to the aircraft aluminum sheets. It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy. It is a heat-treatable alloy. It belongs to superhard aluminum alloy and has good wear resistance. It also has good weldability, but poor corrosion resistance.
