There are 8 series aluminum plates. The main aluminum alloy grades are 1060, 1100, 3003, 3004, 3105, 5052, 5083, 5086, 6061, 6082, 8011, etc. Today let’s first have a knowledge of two widely used aluminum sheets: 3003 aluminium sheet and 5086 aluminum plate.

3003 aluminum is a wrought alloy that contains only 4% alloying elements. 3xxx series aluminum alloys are usually formed by cold working/work hardening. 3003 aluminum sheets are often used with the thickness of 0.6 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.8 mm, 1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, and 4 mm.

The tensile strength of 3003 aluminum alloy is 185 MPa (or 27,000 Psi). The shear strength of 3003 aluminum alloy is 110 Mpa (or 16,000 Psi). For 3003 aluminum, its shear modulus rating is 25 GPa (3630 ksi).

3003 aluminum alloy has the advantages of low density, soft material and easy overall stretching of power battery aluminum shells, and has been used by many companies for battery shells. In order to increase the driving range, new energy electric vehicles require a large number of lithium battery combination modules, each of which is composed of several battery boxes.

Due to excellent corrosion resistance and weldability, coupled with high strength, marine grade aluminum alloy plates are designed for welded structures that require maximum joint strength and efficiency. Marine 5086 aluminum plate shows very good results when welded, retaining most of its strength. This factor, along with its corrosion resistance in seawater, makes it a very popular choice in the marine industry. 5086 aluminum plate is widely used in ship hulls and ship gangways.

5086 aluminum alloy can be heat treated in various states, with high mechanical properties and hardness. Generally speaking, the commonly used tempers of 5086 aluminum plates are O, H111, H112, H116, and H321. The hardness of 5086 aluminum alloy is slightly higher than that of other ordinary aluminum alloys, about 60~70HB.
