Large Aluminum Sheets for Trailer

The maximum width of aluminum sheet for vehicles can reach 2650mm. The 4x8 aluminum sheet for trailers is 1219mm x2438mm. It has good corrosion resistance, good weldability, good cold workability and medium strength. Currently, the commonly used aluminum sheet for the semi trailer and other tankers are 5xxx and 6xxx alloys like 5052 and 6061, etc.

Currently, large tank trucks are undergoing a transition from steel to aluminum. At present, aluminum tank trucks or all-aluminum tank trucks account for an increasing proportion in the market, and are enthusiastically sought after by the public. The 5083 ultra-wide aluminum plate is the main alloy for the aluminum tank truck. Its length is usually 4-12.5 meters.

The common width of 5083 ultra-wide aluminum plates purchased by tank truck manufacturers is 2.2 meters, and the thickness is 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm. A tank truck is usually made of 4-6 extra-wide aluminum plates.

Aluminum tank trucks are about 20% lighter than steel tank trucks of the same size, but their transportation capacity is increased by 30%. At the same time, due to the high strength, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of the 5083 alloy used in aluminum tank trucks, aluminum alloy tank trucks welded with 5083 plate are more wear-resistant.

The large aluminum sheets can perfectly meet the needs of the special vehicles,so that a piece of aluminum sheet can cover the required side and top surfaces, avoiding the need to use welded aluminum plates. It eliminates the negative effects such as peeling and blistering of the paint surface at the weld during the subsequent painting and baking processes, and improves the sealing performance of the trailers.

It is generally believed that those with a width of more than 1500mm are called wide aluminum plates, and those with a width of more than 2000mm are called ultra-wide aluminum plates. However, the production requirements for ultra-wide aluminum plates are very high, and not any manufacturer can produce them.
