Is Your Aluminum Gutter or Trim Coil OK?

Publish: Modify: Apr 18, 2024Author: From:  Haomei

Since the aluminum gutter coil and aluminum trim coil are usually used in harsh environment, how to ensure their performances? There are several tests like film thickness and weather resistance. Learn more.

After the plain aluminum coil has been processed by cleaning, chromating, roller coating, baking, etc., the surface of the aluminum coil is coated with paint coatings of various colors, which is called color coated aluminum coil. It has two types: polyester-coated aluminum coil (PE) and fluorocarbon-coated aluminum coil (PVDF).

The aluminum gutter coil is easy to bend, weld, and rail-formed during processing, making it an ideal raw material for aluminum alloy gutters. 1100,3105 and 3003 aluminum alloys are used. We also offer aluminum trim coil to match your windows or roofs. It is available in aluminum 24” textured.

Since they need to withstand the outdoor environment, how to ensure their performance? The following are some common testing items:

1. Surface quality: Check whether there are any defects on the surface of the color-coated roll, such as scratches, bubbles, color difference or missing coating, etc. This evaluates the quality of appearance and uniformity of the coating.

2. Film thickness: Use a film thickness meter to measure the thickness of the coating on the coated aluminum coil to ensure that it meets the specified requirements. A coating that is too thick or too thin may affect protection or appearance.

3. Weather resistance: The samples are exposed to different climate conditions, such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity and ultraviolet radiation, etc., to evaluate the weather resistance of the coating. This determines whether it can withstand the effects of different environments and maintain its color and luster.

4. Bend performance: Conduct a bend test on the painted aluminum coil to determine whether there will be problems with coating peeling or cracking when bending or folding.

5. Corrosion resistance: Expose the color-coated aluminum coil to a salt spray environment to evaluate its resistance to corrosion. This determines how well the coating protects against corrosive gases or chemicals.

At present, the thickness of aluminum trim coils is between 0.024mm-1.2mm. The current mainstream colors are white, red, blue, silver gray, black, etc. Because there are too many colors for color-coated aluminum coils, Haomei Aluminum generally does not have stock.

The aluminum trim coils can be customized according to RAL color cards or other standard color card numbers, or can be color-matched and processed according to samples. Therefore, color-coated aluminum coils require a certain processing cycle before delivery. Users must take the processing time into consideration when ordering. Try to order in advance to avoid late processing time. Welcome to leave message below to tell us what you need.
