Difference between cold-formed aluminum foil and PTP aluminum foil

Cold-formed aluminum foil is mostly made of 8021-O aluminum foil, with a thickness of generally 0.04-0.065mm; PTP aluminum foil is mostly made of 8011-H18 aluminum foil or 8011-O aluminum foil, with a thickness of 0.016-0.04mm.

Barrier performance comparison

Although PTP aluminum foil also has good barrier performance and can block oxygen and water vapor to a certain extent, its barrier performance is slightly inferior to that of cold-formed aluminum foil. Due to its special structure and material, cold-formed aluminum foil performs better in isolating water vapor, oxygen and ultraviolet rays, and can provide longer-lasting and more stable protection for drugs.

Differences in applications

PTP aluminum foil is a commonly used aluminum foil packaging medicine, especially for some ordinary medicines that are more sensitive to packaging costs and do not have particularly stringent requirements for barrier properties. Cold-formed aluminum foil is more suitable for pharmaceutical packaging that has high requirements for barrier properties and strict requirements for the shelf life of medicines, such as moisture-sensitive medicines, medicines that need to be stored in complex environments, and high-end medicines. In addition, cold-formed aluminum foil has the characteristics of being able to design a variety of shapes, and is also more advantageous in some pharmaceutical packaging that focuses on product image and differentiated competition.
