Air conditioning foil, also known as hydrophilic aluminum foil specifically designed for air conditioner heat exchangers, is a core heat-conducting material for the outdoor unit's condenser and the indoor unit's evaporator. Raw aluminum foil is highly susceptible to oxidation, water accumulation, scale buildup, and corrosion from salt and dust. Therefore, a functional protective coating is applied at the factory, resulting in two main color options after curing: blue and gold coated aluminum fin stock.

- Blue Air Conditioner Foil: Acrylic resin hydrophilic coating, thin and highly transparent, a classic basic coating in the industry.

- Gold Air Conditioner Foil: Modified epoxy acrylic anti-corrosion coating (titanium anti-corrosion coating), thicker coating, with added special anti-salt and anti-aging additives, an upgraded functional coating.

Function Comparison

1. Blue Hydrophilic Air Conditioner Foil: Focuses on high efficiency, high heat exchange, and cost-effectiveness. The core attribute of the blue coating is strong hydrophilicity, and it is also the standard coating for conventional household air conditioners. Its core functions focus on two main areas: heat exchange optimization and basic protection:

✅ Hydrophilic drainage function: Condensate quickly spreads into a water film upon contact with the fins, preventing condensation into water droplets or water bridges. It slides quickly down the fins for drainage, avoiding water droplets getting stuck in the fin gaps and clogging the air ducts, reducing dripping noises and mold growth in the air ducts.

✅ Basic anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation: Isolates from air and daily moisture, preventing the aluminum foil from oxidizing and turning black at room temperature, suitable for ordinary urban air environments, and resisting dust and light dust corrosion.

✅ Advantages of thermal conductivity and heat exchange: The thin coating does not obstruct the heat conduction of the aluminum foil, resulting in faster heat exchange. Under normal operating conditions, cooling and heating efficiency is stable, and energy consumption is lower.

❌ Disadvantages and drawbacks: The coating adhesion is generally poor, with weak resistance to salt spray, acids, and alkalis. It also has poor high-temperature resistance. In long-term environments with high salt, high humidity, and chemical dust, the coating is prone to peeling and flaking, and the aluminum foil is easily corroded and perforated. This significantly increases the heat exchanger failure rate and drastically shortens the overall service life of the unit.

2. Gold hydrophilic aluminum fin stock: Primarily features strong anti-corrosion, weather resistance, and long-lasting durability. The gold aluminum foil is equipped with an upgraded modified epoxy acrylic titanium coating, 1.5-2 times thicker than the blue foil. The formula includes a special salt spray inhibitor, UV stabilizer, and acid/alkali resistant filler, making it a high-end protective hydrophilic coating with maximum hydrophilic and anti-corrosion properties:

✅ Advanced Hydrophilic Drainage: Retains excellent hydrophilic properties, resulting in faster condensate film formation and no water bridging or water accumulation on the fins. It offers superior mold prevention and noise reduction compared to ordinary blue foil, and is less prone to mold and odor growth during humid rainy seasons.

✅ Top-of-the-line Anti-corrosion and Weather Resistance: Significantly improved resistance to salt spray, acids, alkalis, and industrial corrosion. It can withstand sea breeze salt spray, pool chlorine and alkali vapors, and factory exhaust fumes. It is also resistant to high temperatures and UV aging, preventing coating fading and aluminum foil oxidation even under prolonged outdoor exposure.

✅ Strong structural adhesion: The coating adheres well to the 3102 aluminum substrate, preventing cracking and peeling even under long-term temperature fluctuations and outdoor unit vibration, ensuring long-term stable protective performance.

❌ Shortcomings: The coating is relatively thick, slightly hindering heat conduction efficiency, resulting in a slightly lower heat exchange efficiency compared to the blue foil coating; overall production costs are higher, and air conditioners and heat pumps equipped with gold fins are generally more expensive.

- Coastal cities and island residences, where sea breezes have high salt content, making the outdoor unit prone to rust and corrosion.
