A Study of Aluminum Alloy 1100’s Manufacturing Process

                             SHARE

1100 Aluminum sheet(99.00% aluminum content) belongs to the pure aluminium sheet. 1100-O, 1100-h22,1000-h24, 1100-h26 and 1100 h14 aluminum are its common tempers. It has excellent plasticity and corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity and high electrical conductivity; but low tensile strength, which can be improved through work hardening.

                            Production Process

                            1. Smelting and casting: semi-continuous casting of ingots with a thickness of 300 mm.

                            2. Hot rolling: after heating the ingot with a thickness of 300mm to a certain temperature, it is rolled into a hot-rolled billet with a thickness of 7.0mm by a hot rolling mill, and the rolling temperature is about 480°C.

                            3. Cold rolling: the hot-rolled billet with a thickness of 7.0mm is rolled into a cold-rolled billet with a thickness of 0.25mm by a cold rolling mill. The rolling temperature is not higher than 50°C.

                            4. Shearing of finished products: Cut the cold-rolled billet with a thickness of 0.25mm into plates and strips of different lengths and widths according to production requirements.

                            5. Finished product annealing: the aluminium sheet cut to size are passed through an annealing furnace according to different product states to produce the final finished product.

As the annealing temperature increases, the tensile strength decreases gradually, and the elongation increases from the overall trend. From the temperature range of 230 to 280℃, the tensile strength drops more obviously, and tends to be flat when it reaches about 290°C; the elongation rises slowly at 180℃ to 230℃, the elongation at 250℃ increases significantly and the trend of strength and elongation rate tends to be flat when it reaches 290℃.

The annealing system that meets the standard for aluminum alloy 1100 in the O temper is: the furnace gas temperature is 330-340℃, he metal temperature is heated to 320℃ and the temperature is kept for 1 h.

For H22 temper, the furnace gas temperature is 290-300℃ , the metal temperature is heated to 280 ℃ and held for 1 hour. For H24 temper, the furnace gas temperature is fixed at 270-280 ℃, the metal temperature is heated to 260 ℃, and held for 1 hour. For H26, the temperature of the furnace gas is fixed at 250-260℃, the metal temperature is heated to 240℃ and kept for 1 hour.
