The bendable performance of aluminum strip has close relationship with its alloy, temper and thickness. As we all know, the aluminum alloy has eight series. The 1xxx aluminum strip is a kind of flexible aluminum strip, having good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and good ductility. It has good bending and stamping performance in the H24 semi-hard temper.
3xxx and 5xxx aluminum has a certain strength and good bending performance such as 3003, 5052 and 5154 aluminum strip. 6061T6 aluminum strip is a high-hard aluminum strip, one of the hardest products among all aluminum strips, which is not suitable for bending.
According to the different annealing tempers, the aluminum strips can be divided into full soft (O temper), semi-hard (H24 temper), full-hard (H18 temper). The O temper aluminum strip is easier to stretch and bend. The semi-hard aluminum strips generally can be bent. We will not choose the full hard aluminum strip to bend, which is easy to crack.
The aluminum strip’s bending performance is also been affected by its thickness. The bending coefficient is generally the 0.8 times the thickness of the bendable aluminum strips. Take the aluminium strip 3mm for example. Its bending coefficient is 2.4. Generally the aluminum strip has rolling lines. It is best that the bending tool and the rolling line intersect 90 degrees.
